Omelette recipe for beginners
That’s one of the first things that my granny taught me. It’s super basic and everyone should know how to make one!
The good thing about it is that you can eat is savory or sweet depending on what you feel like eating. The limit on what you can put in there doesn’t exist so be creative here. You can literally use any leftover veggies from your fridge and get an awesome omelette. :)
It’s simple and easy and it’s ALWAYS a yummy breakfast, or lunch, or actually any meal. In today’s post, I will show you 3 ways of how you can make it. The first one is super basic and simple. The second one is how I like to eat it and the second one is a sweet version of 2nd one! The second one doesn’t require much more work but it makes a significant difference!
Let’s start with 2 egg omelette version number 1.
First, prepare all your ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- butter
- salt
- pepper
- toppings, for example: cheese, bell pepper, mushrooms, ham, fresh herbs, basically whatever you like.
Optional: a little bit of milk

Put the eggs and season to taste with salt and pepper (I like to add some paprika powder as well!). The next step is to grab your whisk and whisk it! The more you whisk it, the fluffier the omelette will be. Now you can add some milk to the eggs (it’s optional) and mix it to combine :)

While you do your eggs, put a nonstick pan on the stove over medium-low heat. Add the butter and let it melt.

Pour the eggs on the preheated pan, place a cover on top of the pan and turn the heat down to low. Placing the cover will help your eggs cook thoroughly without the need to flip your omelette.

Control the status of your eggs, but DO NOT mix or stir! You can use a spatula to go around the edges. When the eggs are almost done place your ingredients on top and leave it for a bit longer so the can heat up as well (place the pan cover on top again :))

Fold your omelette and you’re done!

3 egg omelette version number 2.
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs (3 egg whites and 1 yolk)
- butter
- salt
- pepper
- toppings, for example: cheese, fresh herbs, chives, basically whatever you like.
This version is a bit more extra but I think it’s worth it!
First Separate the egg whites and the egg yolks into two separate bowls.

Whisk the egg yolk (add salt and pepper and optionally other seasonings like paprika powder etc.) until it’s smooth and set it aside.

Put the egg whites in a large bowl and whisk until they are white (like proper white) and triple their size. Pro tip: add a pinch of salt, it will whisk faster!

Slowly add the egg yolk into the egg whites (fold it, gentle moves, don’t mix it quickly!!!) until they fully combine.

Pour the eggs into the nonstick frying pan. Cook it with a lid on top over medium-low heat until the bottom of omelette has cooked, approximately 5 minutes. Lift up each side of the omelette and drop a tablespoon of butter underneath.
Cover the pan again and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the top of the omelette has set. Add some toppings, for example cheese.
Remove the pan from the heat. Place the omelette onto a plate and sprinkle with chives or herbs.

If you feel like eating it sweet you can also add cocoa powder to the eggs (still add salt but skip the pepper) and put some bananas or berries on top! Yummy!

Enjoy!
